The Part of Fox That Disney Didn’t Buy Could Buy WWE

A new report from Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims not only that WWE could be looking at moving its TV deal to Fox from NBC, which owns the USA Network, but that the company could even buy WWE outright. According to the report, WWE executive Triple H has already had meetings with Fox about the move, which would see WWE replace UFC is UFC does not renew their deal with Fox. Under the rumored new deal, Fox’s broadcast network would air a two-hour WWE Raw, with Smackdown Live airing on FS1, and more wrestling content being produced to fill up more time usually filled by stuff like UFC’s Best Knockouts that’s constantly airing on the Fox Sports networks.

The report also speculates that Fox could purchase WWE in its entirety in order to avoid having to constantly renegotiate TV deals. Fox has a buttload of money due to Disney buying most of 21st Century Fox’s assets, though the TV network, Fox News, and main sports networks would remain a separate company.

Of course, though Meltzer’s words are often treated as gospel in the pro wrestling community, it’s worth noting that beyond the reports of Triple H meeting with Fox, this is mostly speculation on Meltzer’s part and may not actually come to fruition. In fact, Meltzer doesn’t even take original credit for the speculation, writing, ” there has been a lot of speculation in and out of media,” and hedging that the talks are “clearly as preliminary as it could be.” Still, it’s almost too good to be true to imagine a two-hour Monday Night Raw and a WWE not run by Vince McMahon, though we have to assume any deal would include a “make Roman look strong” clause in the contract.

Meltzer says that the deal will become less likely if UFC does re-sign with Fox, though that deal hasn’t happened yet. WWE’s current TV deal won’t expire until 2019.

Kitten Bowl 2017!!!!!!!!!!

While millions of Americans tune in to Sunday’s Super Bowl, another intense competition will be going down at the same time: the fourth annual Kitten Bowl. This big game, however, involves slightly more cuddly players; considered the “ultimate feline catsravaganza,” it’s a must-watch for cat lovers. Fluffy kittens are put into “teams” on a field filled with obstacles like hamster balls and tunnels. Depending on the cats’ abilities to navigate the obstacles, their team moves the ball towards a touchdown. Tricky!

The teams in the running for Sunday’s playoffs include the Last Hope Lions, Boomer’s Bobcats, Northshore Bengals, and Home & Family Felines, and their lineups are stacked. Tom Bratty Cat, for instance, is described as “intimidating” and plays “quartercat,” while the “halfcat” Spuds MacMuffin is known for thinking “outside the litter box.” (You can read up on all the kittens in advance.)

One final fun feline fact: all of the “cathletes” for this year’s Kitten Bowl were actually adopted. Watch a preview of the action above, or switch to the Hallmark Channel Sunday to see the claw-filled action live at noon, with announcing from Beth Stern, New York Yankees voice John Sterling, and more.

puppybowl1

Do you like watching drooling adorable puppies than Tom Brady ?  If you answered yes to these question, then you will probably be among those tuning in to Puppy Bowl XIII instead of Super Bowl LI on Sunday. Airing from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET (noon to 2 p.m. PT) and repeating throughout the day, Animal Planet’s annual mini-gridiron competition, which is designed to promote pet adoption, will feature dozens of dogs from rescues and shelters dragging chew toys across the goal line and into your surely melting hearts.

Son Of Zorn Debuts On Fox Review (Videos)

The preview pilot isn’t the worst show you’ll ever see, but once you get used to the fact that Daddy is a 7-foot animated galoot, how do creators Eli Jorne and Reed Agnew intend to hold our interest from week to week? The gimmick isn’t enough, but the bigger problem is that the setup and story aren’t enough, either. What the show needs is actually more contextual wackiness in addition to the animated main character. A great edition of the animation night on Sundays on Fox.
