Every year, a cross-country search is held in hopes of discovering extraordinary dogs who have gone above their calling in order to help forever alter the lives of those lucky enough to be around them. As in past years, nominees were broken down into eight key categories which include:  Law Enforcement & Arson Dogs; Service Dogs; Therapy Dogs; Military Dogs; Guide Dogs; Search and Rescue Dogs; Hearing Dogs; and Emerging Hero Dogs

For weeks, America voted for their favorite courageous canines among of pool of 172 nominees in order to determine the eight honorees that will compete for the title of top American Hero Dog at this year’s event. And what would an awards show be without a few celebrity appearances and a performance from an incredibly talented performer? This year, several incredible guests will drop by to serve as presenters including Robert Herjavec (Shark Tank), Kym Johnson (Dancing with the Stars), Bailee Madison (Good Witch), Pauley Perrette (NCIS), and Alison Sweeney (Hallmark’s Murder She Bakedfranchise) while Scorpion star Katherine McPhee is set to take the stage for a special musical performance.
