Wrestlemania Memories Pt. 1 (Videos)

With Wrestlemania 33 only days away , its time to relive Wrestlemania memories and I have a lot of memories through the years . We will have a different Wrestlemania memory all this week leading up to our Wrestlemania Predictions . Here are the memories of Wrestlemania 1 :

Wrestlemania had the best buildup of any event in history, they stretched it out and just the buildup was epic. The whole thing with Cyndi Lauper and the Rock N Wrestling connection , it made wrestling cool again .

Hulk Hogan and Mr. T even hosted Saturday Night Live , the night before the big event. There was just so much news and excitement with this event, something not seen ever before .  They even had wrestling on MTV, which then was the hottest thing in the universe.

Unfortunately I didn’t have cable back then in New York, Cablevision was being a bitch with hooking up parts of New York and the boroughs. So I had to call a 976 number every few hours to get up to date results, 976 was our internet back then lol. I had to watch Wrestlemania 1 the next day , as a friend who had cable recorded it on VHS for me. Couldn’t wait to watch all the excitement.

The matches I most remember from the first Wrestlemania were Andre The Giant Vs. Big John Studd  and Piper n Orton Vs. Hogan and Mr. T.  The Andre match was good as Andre was the first person to slam the unslamable Big John Studd . The Hogan match was just epic and a good way to finish the storyline with Piper and also build up Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorf. Here are some highlights of Wrestlemania 1 :

Remembering The Superfly (Videos)

comiccon2015Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka is the one who got me into loving pro wrestling. His story as the islander taken advantage by his manager Lou Albano and turning from a bad guy to a good guy got me into this new world of pro wrestling. Jimmy Snuka was electrifying in the ring and he really connected with the fans pretty much like Daniel Bryan in the modern era. He was always the underdog fighting to the top. What got me into wrestling was when Ray “The Crippler” Stevens attacked Superfly Snuka outside the ring and piledrived him on the concrete. Once I saw this I was a wrestling superfan for life.

Superfly Snuka was involved in many great matches and one of the best cage matches ever happened in Madison Square Garden in 1983 with Superfly Snuka facing The Intercontinental Champion The Magnificent Don Muraco. The match is a part of history, as a young Mick Foley was watching in the crowd, and then after this match decided this is what he wanted to do….

Another Superfly Snuka rivalry was with the one and only Rowdy Roddy Piper, and this led to Snuka being the outside enforcer at Wrestlemania 1 when Hulk Hogan and Mr. T took on Paul “Mr Wonderful Orndorff and Rowdy Roddy Piper….Here is a Piper’s Pit that is part of history.

I saw Superfly Snuka wrestle many times LIVE at Madison Square Garden once teaming up with Andre The Giant taking on The Wild Samoans Afa and Sika . Snuka climbed on Andre’s shoulders and jumped off onto Afa in this match. But the most memorable time was at The Royal Rumble 2008 at Madison Square Garden when Superfly Snuka and Rowdy Roddy Piper got to fight again. A amazing rivalry back in MSG.

So many memories of a superstar I grew up watching . Superfly passed away on January 15 2017 but his legacy and memory will live on forever. I have many great memories of my favorite wrestler and if I can say anything to the Superfly is just Thank you.  Here are some awesome Jimmy Superfly Snuka memorabilia :

Best Videos Of WWE 2015 (Videos)

2015 was a up and down year for the WWE. They lost some top stars like Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton due to injuries, but they also gained Kevin Owens and The New Day….I’d say 2015 was a mixed year for the WWE. I hope we see a better 2016, for the WWE. Here are some of the best videos of 2015!!!! Enjoy!!!

WWE Legends Remember Rowdy Roddy Piper (Videos)

Pro wrestling writer legend Bill Apter interviewed WWE legends Cowboy Bob “Ace” Orton , Paul “Mr. Wonderful” Orndorf and Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and all had great memories of working with The Hot Rod…..Very interesting and compelling interviews if you like to see the other side of the curtain of professional wrestling.

Remembering Rowdy Roddy Piper (Videos)

The wrestling world lost a legend yesterday with the passing of the one and only Rowdy Roddy Piper who passed away at age 61 from natural causes.  I pretty much, grew up watching Piper and his Piper’s pit and the whole rock n wrestling connection got me into wrestling in the first place. Many people credit Hulk Hogan on creating the wrestling resurgence in the 80’s but without Roddy Piper as the guy you loved to hate, there would have been nothing. R.I.P Roddy and thank you for the memories you will be missed……..
