Star Trek : Discovery News !!!!!

As the first live action Star Trek series since Enterprise was cancelled more than a decade ago, the pressure is on for Discovery to get pretty much everything right — and the writers are taking that challenge very, very seriously.

We’ve already heard that Discovery would toss out Gene Roddenberry’s golden rule of not having direct conflict among the crew, but don’t think that means the new Trek series will be throwing out much anything else from the beloved sci-fi franchise. In an interview with CNET, producer Alex Kurtzman said they plan to revisit themes and ideas from The Original Series (Discovery is technically a prequel to the franchise-starter), while also filling a writers’ room with hardcore fans.

Taking that a step further, Kurtzman said they literally have a few Trekfact-checkers in the writers’ room to ensure that any story or episode ideas don’t step on the toes of established facts and stories within the universe. Check out an excerpt from his comments below:

“If you are a fan of Trek you are going to see a lot of things which hearken back to the original series and elements of the original series…I’m not just talking plot, but the spirit of what that show was. We are going to be revisiting a couple of things on Star Trek: Discovery that I think people are going to find familiar. Without spoiling anything we are adhering to a timeline and sticking to the rules, but also I think finding some new areas and avenues that have only been alluded to, but never fully explored.

You’ve got a roomful of people with very different and very devoted relationships to Star Trek in that writers room. And that carries on a pretty proud tradition of Trek being written by fans. You have to respect canon as it’s being written. You can’t say, ‘That never happened.’ No, no no, you can’t do that, they would kill you. Star Trek fans would kill you. No, you have to respect canon. You have to understand the timelines and what the different timelines were and what the different universes were and how they all worked together. You have to keep very meticulous track of who, what, where, when and why. And we have people in the writer’s room whose sole job is to say, ‘Nope, can’t do that!’”

It’s obviously not uncommon for a new installment in a major franchise to double-check the facts along the way, but for Trek fans, it’s an encouraging thought to know the Discovery team is taking what’s come before so seriously. If they can strike a balance of doing something fresh while also respecting the franchise’s roots, Discovery truly could be something special.

Star Trek: Discovery premieres September 24 on CBS, and the series will run as an exclusive on the network’s CBS All Access streaming service.

Unbelievable!!!! The Movie Preview (Video)

“Unbelievable!!!!!” is a Sci-Fi Parody Adventure. The movie follows the exploits of four astronauts (one of which is an animatronic marionette which resembles Captain Kirk from the 1960’s TV show “Star Trek”) who travel to the Moon on a rescue mission to determine the fate of two NASA comrades who have not been heard from in several days. The individuals they find at the Lunar Base are not whom they appear to be and, through acts of trickery and deception, nearly succeed in killing our heroes. The four return to find that everyone on the planet has been transformed into a variant life-form. Aliens from Mars have conquered Earth and now seek to destroy the last remnants of humanity. The astronauts fight back and soon discover how to rid themselves of the alien threat.

We have cast 40 previous iconic “Star Trek” actors in this film. We have also hired Gerald Fried, an Emmy-Award winning composer, to score our film. Gerald was a composer for the original “Star Trek” and has written some of its most iconic musical themes including “Amok Time’s” Fight Music. Fried won his Emmy for his Composition work on the 1970’s TV Series “Roots”. Additionally we hired Tommy Morgan as our Lead Bass Harmonia player who also worked on the Original Star Trek Series, “Spectre of the Gun”. Also within our orchestra is multi Grammy and Academy Award winner Dave Grusin as our Pianist. Dave is known for his work on “The Graduate”, “On Golden Pond” and “Tootsie”. We produced this film to include many of our favorite Star Trek stars from the past in a light-hearted parody-adventure, look forward to the fun with many of your favorite actors, a few plants….and a few dogs.

My Journey With Allegiance

Tonight on November 10th 2015, I ended my journey with the Broadway show Allegiance The Musical.  I first heard about Allegiance through George Takei on The Howard Stern Show a few years ago. I got to see it in pre-production mode in two very small and intimate theaters in NYC and fell in love with it.  Tonight, I saw the finished product of all those years and it was truly amazing.

What makes Allegiance different than the rest of the other Broadway shows that have come and gone before it, is that they opened up their show to the fans, and showed us pretty much behind the curtain of what goes into creating such a awesome musical. The crew used social media like no show has ever done, creating tons of hype for it all on Facebook and Twitter.  Very few if any shows have ever been so open with the fans as Allegiance has.  When you see it, you feel like you are a part of the family there.

The show itself, and I don’t want to give too much away here, is about Family , love and the love of a country. I think the story of Allegiance , although taking place in the 40’s during World War II the story is timely as ever, as we are dealing with the discussion of immigrants in this political season.  Lea Salonga is truly sensational in the show, I could listen to Lea sing forever.  Telly Leung does very well in the show too, but the heart of the show belongs to the one and only George Takei, who you can see on stage, has his heart and soul into this project, and it radiates on the stage for all to see.

Despite its emotional story, you leave the show with a feeling of closure and of love and to witness the endurance of what these people went through because they never gave up hope they always had Gaman…………
