Lucha Libre Wrestling’s Next Great Villian : A Donald Trump Supporter (Videos)

In Mexican lucha libre — professional wrestling known for its masked fighters and cartoonish style — the bad guys rule. They’re known simply as rudos.

“Mexican lucha libre is for rudos. We welcome any rudo who wants to come in here and be badder than the others,” says Marco Espinosa, a fan, from beneath his souvenir lucha libre mask.

So it made sense for Sam Polinsky, a 27-year-old wrestler from Pittsburgh, to try his luck south of the border. He came to Mexico about nine months ago and branded himself as Sam Adonis, “El Rudo de las Chicas” or the “Ladies’ Bad Guy.”

When Donald Trump won the presidency after a campaign that regularly scapegoated and insulted the Mexican people, Polinsky saw an opportunity to turn up the heat on his bad-guy character.

“I had a perfect idea: Why not come to the arena with [an American] flag, but I’m gonna take this to a whole other level,” he says, unfurling a flag and grinning. “I have a 4-ft. flag with the face of Donald Trump on it.”

With this prop, he became the surrogate of Donald Trump in Mexican lucha libre.

His over-the-top, absurd style blends well into the sport. It is a wacky, colorful show punctuated by amazing acrobatics and always following the same script: The good guys, known as técnicos, the equivalent of “babyface,” line up across from the rudos in a battle of justice.

On a Friday evening in Mexico City, Polinsky is getting ready for his latest fight at Arena México, the holy site of Mexican wrestling, which regularly draws 10,000 fans. His girlfriend blow-dries and straightens his long blond mohawk. She helps him spray tan his face and body, using a mini-paint roller to smooth out the streaks.

For Polinsky, being a baddie — especially one who generates such immediate, enraged reactions from Mexicans — is exhilarating.

Remembering The Superfly (Videos)

comiccon2015Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka is the one who got me into loving pro wrestling. His story as the islander taken advantage by his manager Lou Albano and turning from a bad guy to a good guy got me into this new world of pro wrestling. Jimmy Snuka was electrifying in the ring and he really connected with the fans pretty much like Daniel Bryan in the modern era. He was always the underdog fighting to the top. What got me into wrestling was when Ray “The Crippler” Stevens attacked Superfly Snuka outside the ring and piledrived him on the concrete. Once I saw this I was a wrestling superfan for life.

Superfly Snuka was involved in many great matches and one of the best cage matches ever happened in Madison Square Garden in 1983 with Superfly Snuka facing The Intercontinental Champion The Magnificent Don Muraco. The match is a part of history, as a young Mick Foley was watching in the crowd, and then after this match decided this is what he wanted to do….

Another Superfly Snuka rivalry was with the one and only Rowdy Roddy Piper, and this led to Snuka being the outside enforcer at Wrestlemania 1 when Hulk Hogan and Mr. T took on Paul “Mr Wonderful Orndorff and Rowdy Roddy Piper….Here is a Piper’s Pit that is part of history.

I saw Superfly Snuka wrestle many times LIVE at Madison Square Garden once teaming up with Andre The Giant taking on The Wild Samoans Afa and Sika . Snuka climbed on Andre’s shoulders and jumped off onto Afa in this match. But the most memorable time was at The Royal Rumble 2008 at Madison Square Garden when Superfly Snuka and Rowdy Roddy Piper got to fight again. A amazing rivalry back in MSG.

So many memories of a superstar I grew up watching . Superfly passed away on January 15 2017 but his legacy and memory will live on forever. I have many great memories of my favorite wrestler and if I can say anything to the Superfly is just Thank you.  Here are some awesome Jimmy Superfly Snuka memorabilia :

WWE Roadblock Recap (Videos)

The WWE Roadblock kicked off the last WWE PPV of 2016 and it was an entertaining and action packed end of 2016 for the Raw brand.

Cesaro/ Sheamus Vs. The New Day : I’m a big fan of The New Day and I wished The New Day could have finished the year being the WWE tag team champions although they are the longest reigning WWE tag team champions of all time. Cesaro/Sheamus are growing on me as a tag team and if anyone deserves gold its Cesaro.

Chris Jericho Vs. Seth Rollins : Jericho is always entertaining to watch and this was a good match nothing great but good to keep the momentum up for both.

Kevin Owens Vs. Roman Reigns :  A weird match up that was thrown together to fast for me to care. I’m very glad that KO is still the champion but they need Roman to lose the US Title and hopefully to Chris Jericho in 2017.

Sasha Banks Vs. Charlotte : These two can have a match a week and i’ll watch it. The WWE is going to play championship back and forth with these two and i’m sure Sasha will get it back again and maybe Bailey will surprise everybody and win it from one of them in 2017.

Orlando / WWE Press Conference For Wrestlemania 33

The Orlando Citrus Bowl to host WrestleMania 33

Superstars and Divas joined local dignitaries in officially announcing Orlando as the home of next year’s Showcase of the Immortals.

ORLANDO, Fla. — WrestleMania is returning to the Sunshine State.

The Orlando Citrus Bowl in Florida will host WrestleMania 33 on Sunday, April 2, 2017, WWE and local dignitaries officially announced this morning at a press conference in Florida.

The event marks WrestleMania’s first time back at the Citrus Bowl since 2008, when more than 74,000 members of the WWE Universe attended WrestleMania XXIV, featuring Undertaker’s clash with Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship, plus, Big Show against boxer Floyd Mayweather.

Relive WrestleMania XXIV on the award-winning WWE Network “We’re excited to bring this event back to Orlando,” Florida Gov. Rick Scott said in a press release. “Florida set a tourism record by welcoming 105 million visitors in 2015, and WWE will help bring even more visitors to Florida in 2017. We’re excited WWE once again chose Florida to host WrestleMania.

mania2 Gov. Scott joined Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs for the historic announcement, which was also made in conjunction with the Central Florida Sports Commission. WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H, WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day, Divas Champion Charlotte and Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon were among the Superstars and Divas in attendance.

“You will leave the Citrus Bowl emotionally exhausted,” Vince McMahon said. “Everyone will enjoy the drama and the athleticism … but most importantly, you’ll leave with a big smile on your face.” John Cena, who also spoke at the press conference, described why Orlando is a fitting home for WWE’s pop-culture extravaganza.

“Orlando welcomes people and makes the impossible possible, makes dreams reality,” the Cenation leader said. “Orlando, just like WrestleMania, makes moments that last a lifetime.”

In addition to WrestleMania 33, the Orlando region will be home to a variety of events during next year’s WrestleMania Week. The Orange County Convention Center will host the interactive fan festival WrestleMania Axxess, and the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Monday Night Raw will both take place at the Amway Center. Additionally, Be a STAR anti-bullying rallies and other community outreach evens will be held that week.

WWE Raw Recap 3/7/16

Shane o mac returned to Raw again and took out some security, his dad Vince had come out and take Shane out of his ring. Shane still has his moves, and the match with The Undertaker is going to be intense, I don’t know how the WWE is going to finish this story at Mania. One time I see The Undertaker win then sometimes I think Shane might win and we get the WWE attitude Era 2.0 back on Raw….Time will Tell……

Sami Zayn attacked Kevin Owens tonight, and hopefully this leads to a one on one match at Wrestlemania between the two. If WWE has them fight, this might be the match of the night at Mania……

Y2AJ exploded tonight with Jericho attacking AJ Styles. Jericho is a great heal and this should be good…..This will be a great mania match, but I see AJ winning as Jericho usually loses at Mania and then leaves. He’s great at getting guys over, and i’m sure he will bring AJ to the next level.

The Big Boss Man was the next name to be inducted into the WWE HOF…..Been a long time coming, as The Big Boss Man was a great legend.  Wish he was alive to see it though…….Hopefully he is smiling from up above.

The main event was Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt……It was just ok, the crowd really wasn’t into it that much and was pretty quiet in it. WWE pushes Wyatt and all and then he loses  Ambrose was attacked by the Wyatt family at the end. HHH then came out and teased a fight with Bray Wyatt, who I would love to see against The Game, but at the end Ambrose knocked HHH out , which means HHH walks out of Roadblock the champion. Not a bad Raw, but just Eh, hopefully as the weeks dwindle down for Wrestlemania, Raw gets better.  See you next week!!!
